ILS Proton Successfully Launches W2A Satellite; The 50th ILS Proton Launch

 


BAIKONUR COSMODROME, Kazakhstan, April 3, 2009 – International Launch Services (ILS), a world leader in providing mission and launch services to the commercial space industry, successfully carried the W2A satellite to orbit for Eutelsat Communications of France on an ILS Proton. The Proton vehicle lifted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome at 10:24 p.m. local time (12:24 p.m. EDT, 16:24 GMT).

ILS and Intelsat Announce Proton Launch of the Intelsat 16 Satellite in Fourth Quarter 2009

 


RESTON, Va. / Pembroke, Bermuda, March 23, 2009 – International Launch Services (ILS) and Intelsat announced a contract signed on March 23, 2009, for launch of the Intelsat 16 satellite on an ILS Proton later this year. Contract terms were not disclosed. The satellite, built by Orbital Sciences, is expected to be delivered to the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan late this fall.

Khrunichev Ships Proton Vehicle for IndoStar II/ ProtoStar II Launch

BAIKONUR COSMODROME, Kazakhstan,  Mar. 18, 2009 -- A Proton M launch vehicle (LV) has been shipped from Khrunichev’s production facilities in Moscow, Russia to the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. The LV will be readied for the IndoStar II/ ProtoStar II satellite launch scheduled for early May. The telecommunications satellite built by Boeing Satellite Systems (BSS) will be injected into a geosynchronous transfer orbit by the Breeze M upper stage and eventually moved into a geostationary orbit by BSS.
